decatur-badge2Founded in 1970, The Police Benevolent and Protective Association (PBPA) Decatur Unit 39 consists of only full time and retired Police Officers of the Decatur IL Police. We currently have 212 members.

Our goal is to strengthen the bond between Police and the local Decatur/Macon Co community. We achieve this goal by supporting local youth events, community events, local church events, feeding the needy and shopping with families in need at Christmas Time.

In 2012, our Thanksgiving basket program made over 100 food baskets. The baskets were put together by volunteers from our organization at Decatur IL (east Wal-Mart). The cost of each basket was 37.00. Our goal with these baskets is not only to feed a family at Thanksgiving but also to feed them for a few days after.

In 2012, our program of Shopping with Kids and their families for Christmas was a huge success. We took 115 kids shopping at Target (Decatur IL). Every child was allowed to shop with a Police Officer from the Decatur Police Department. Each child was allowed to spend $100.00 per child.

The children for our shopping program are located through Big Brother Big Sisters, Child Advocacy Center, Growing Strong, ILDCFS, local churches, local schools and Officer referrals.

We are an Organization that believes in being Benevolent in the community.
